Glacier National Park, Montana Proposal

Traveling 10 hours and camping out in Glacier to do a photoshoot for a proposal… I highly recommend.

I never imagined the places that photography would take me. Especially not to such a beautiful place like Glacier.

I left from Salt Lake City a day prior to the shoot and drove the 10 hours to Glacier. I made it into a fun short trip for myself as well and explored and looked for great proposal spots that first day I was there. The following morning, my client Dylan and I had planned to meet up while he told his girlfriend was still sleeping and he said we was getting coffee. We talked about multiple options and settled on the Avalanche Lake Trail as our number one spot if it worked out.

So, I took the initiative of making sure we knew what we were in for and told Dylan I could hike up there and see if it’s a worthwhile spot. After we parted ways, I headed straight up to the trailhead and hiked for about an hour up the mountain to find this Lake. After lots of huffing and puffing and being in the worst jeans for a hike ever, I made it to my destination and couldn’t have been more blown away.

Everyone who made it up there had the same look as me. Just in awe of the beauty of the lake with the mountain backdrop and the perfect calm reflection of it off the water. I was immediately sold. I spent some time taking photos for myself and some reference photos of the area to send back to Dylan. I then had to hike right back down to find any service to text him and send him the photos. He loved the spot, and we had set a time for late afternoon.

I got a quick lunch and coffee, and prepared to head back up and made sure I had all the gear I needed. I got back to the top early and waited for Dylan and his girlfriend, Lauren. They made it just in time to catch the last bit of sunlight to propose in, and you couldn’t have asked for a better time to take photos. She was overjoyed and was quick to say yes. We took lots of photos and spent the rest of our time hiking back, getting to know each other.

Truly one of my favorite shoots, not just for the photos but for the people I got to take photos of.
